Wordpress Upgrade
I just finished upgrading one of my sites from an older version of WordPress to the newest version. I was approaching the task with some trepidation, particularly after I read the directions at WordPress about doing the upgrade.
Just by chance I came across the Automatic Update plugin in a list of top plugins and decided [...]
Church Computing Magazine
Here is another great free resource - Church Computing Magazine.
This magazine showcases a number of new technologies and services and how they impact the church. This month they have an article on a church text messaging service (churchtextingmanager.com) - only a buck to try it for the 2 months and you get 300 texts. Now [...]
Facebook Ad
This is the ad we’re currently running on Facebook. Nothing fancy, just wanting to get the church’s name in front of as many people as possible.
You’ll note that the text input on Facebook’s ad manager does not allow any formatting of the text.
So far after two days - 319,000 impressions with a click count [...]
Facebook Advertising
I recently read reports by a couple of pastors of what they considered the successful implementation of advertising campaigns on Facebook.
I have had a Facebook account for quite a while although I visit the site very infrequently, however, I have noticed the huge popularity of Facebook not only among teenagers but people of all ages.
So [...]
Finishing Well
I’ve been reading a book written by Steve Farrar titled “Finishing Strong” which was written to encourage men to invest for the long haul in their families and in their relationship with God. This same theme runs through the book of 1 Kings (the subject of our Wednesday PM Bible Study this past week and [...]
Free Catalyst Leadership E-Mag
It seems fitting that on Earth Day the topic of this post is a paperless e-mag. The folks at Catalyst have put together a new magazine called "Catalyst Leadership" that is available free online.
While I haven’t had the time to get all the way through it, what I have seen looks good. Of course, [...]
Free Graphics/Photo Program
Adobe Photoshop is a great program, but, if you’ve looked at buying it recently you know what "sticker shock" is all about. Many times it is out of reach of the budget of a non-profit.
A great option with a great price tag is a program called Gimp. Developed as an open source project it has [...]
Over The Top - The Weekend Report
I usually try to avoid crossposting between this blog and my "Pastor’s Blog" that is linked to the church website. This Easter weekend was an incredible time, while not the highest in overall attendance, spiritually it was incredible.
The following is taken from the "Pastor’s Blog" report on the weekend.
There are lots of adjectives that [...]
Congratulations To Rev. Billy Graham
The major topic of this blog is Public Relations so I wanted to give kudos to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
While visiting a senior citizen this week she began to tell me how she and her husband had supported the BGEA ministry for many years. When her husband passed she felt comfortable enough to [...]
Most Important Ministries
LifeWay Research just released another survey of 801 Southern Baptist pastors asking about the most crucial ministries in their churches.
Listed first in order of importance was evangelism followed by Sunday School/Bible study/ small groups. It was interesting that evangelism was the least likely ministry to have an effective leader in place.
You can read about [...]
