Over The Top - The Weekend Report

Posted by: admin on Monday, April 13th, 2009

I usually try to avoid crossposting between this blog and my "Pastor’s Blog" that is linked to the church website. This Easter weekend was an incredible time, while not the highest in overall attendance, spiritually it was incredible.

The following is taken from the "Pastor’s Blog" report on the weekend.

There are lots of adjectives that I could use to describe this past Easter weekend. Suffice it to say that it was an incredible time.

Friday night there was a great crowd with several visitors present as we focused on the crucifixion of Christ and what it means to us today. As always, communion was such a special and sacred time.

Sunday morning the church began to fill up early and, while we didn’t reach our goal of 200 in attendance we came close with 180. The Youth Easter 074Choir and the Signing Team did a great job presenting the musical "What’s Your Opinion" which was written and directed by Cheryl Thornhill.

To top it all off, we not only talked about resurrection, we concluded the service by baptizing 4 more in the name of Jesus. (BTW, if you have not yet been baptized send me an email and we’ll make arrangements pastor@westislandchurch.com ). I knew prior to the service that we would be baptizing 3, including an 89 year old gentlemen, the fourth was a very pleasant surprise.

Thanks to everyone who participated, invited and worked so hard to make the weekend the success that it was!
