5 Days Away From A Computer

I just completed 5 days away from computers! The only concession that I made was gmail on my cell.

It wasn’t anything spiritual, just that I didn’t want to bother carrying my laptop to the Canadian Conference held last week in Vancouver, BC. So, no web and only very rudimentary email for 5 days. Of course, I had over 500 blog posts waiting to be read in my Google Reader.

The Conference was a great time of fellowship and reconnecting with old friends along with some good preaching and teaching. The church was full each evening - I had the privilege of speaking the first night, Rev. Jim Blackshear, pastor of Life Church in Anchorage, AK preached night 2 and Rev. Raymond Woodward, pastor of Capital Community Church in Fredericton, NB preached the final night. What great words of inspiration and blessing! Desmond MacKenzie may be low key in presentation but he brought some powerful teaching on leadership. Rev. Travis Miller, as he has every time I’ve had the privilege to hear him, did a great job in the Friday morning teaching sessions.

Then there is Vancouver itself. I managed to squeeze in two days of sight seeing starting with the "hop on, hop off" trolley tour through the downtown and Stanley Park. It’s a great way to see the city and not having to worry about how to get to where you want to go. I also managed to take around 500 pictures throughout the week.

I even got to take a quick trip up to Whistler (site of the 2010 Winter Olympics) and what an

incredible drive it was. The scenery along the drive made it worth all of the 50 km per hour work zones.

A great conference, a great trip and then arrived back in Montreal on Saturday night to get ready for our Grad Sunday & Barbecue. It was a special time for me because one of the graduates is my oldest daughter Natasha.

All in all a great week!
