Proud To Be A Canadian

Today was the first time that I got to spend Canada Day in our nations capital of Ottawa. It was a spur of the moment decision to extend our time in Ottawa to include Canada Day and, while walking to Parliament Hill to attempt to get some pictures of Prime Minister Harper we stopped at the crosswalk on Sussex Drive. It looked like a crowd was gathered for a parade, so after inquiring of one of the police officers present we discovered that it was the route the Prime Minister and Governor General would be traveling along.

The Prime Minister’s SUV had dark windows so I couldn’t get a good picture, however, Governor General Jean was in an open carriage with her husband and daughter.

We couldn’t get close to the stage - but here is a shot of Prime Minister Harper at the podium (taken with a telephoto from Wellington St.).

The Snowbirds were incredible coming over the top of the clock tower on the Parliament Buildings.

Plus, the rain held off and it was a spectacular day!

God bless Canada!
