Facebook Advertising For Easter

Posted by: admin on Friday, March 26th, 2010

Leading up to Easter we have started running a paid advertisement on Facebook. Clicking on the ad leads to a page on our website promoting our Easter service in the theatre of the local high school.
Facebook estimates potential reach of the ad at 2 million Facebook users within a 50 mile radius of Pointe Claire.
Since yesterday at around noon there have been 149,000 impressions with 23 click throughs. Total cost thus far is $8.52 - with an average cost per click of .37 and a cost per thousand impressions of .06.

Most Duplicated App on Itunes

Posted by: admin on Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Relevant Magazine reports that the most duplicated app on Itunes is….. the Bible.

I have two Bible apps on my IPhone currently – YouVersion and Logos. Of the two I use YouVersion the most. It’s free and allows for downloads of many different Bible versions for free including many of the modern translations along with versions in many different languages. If you are into Twitter it will also let you tweet a Bible verse directly from the app.

Flipping A Coin

"When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you, but because, in that brief moment with the coin is in the air, you suddenly know what you are hoping for."

Phoning It In

Seth Godin makes some great points regarding ministry – and while a secular blogger brings a great reminder. It’s easy to lose vision and passion and just go through the motions.

TED Talks

If you haven’t seen any of the TED Talks before they are well worth your time to watch.

TED is an annual conference held in Long Beach, CA which makes the video of the presentations available on their website. Other videos from previous years are available on YouTube.

With presenters like Malcolm Gladwell, J.K. Rowlings and Richard Dawkins there is always plenty of food for thought.

The Sea And Life by Rev. Lonnie Treadway

Posted by: admin on Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Back in the 80’s I came across a recording of a sermon preached by Rev. Lonnie Treadway

to the UPCI Youth Committee. Titled “The Sea And Life” it was perhaps the most played sermon that I have ever had.

This week I came across the cassette and decided to convert it to mp3. If you are in ministry this is a must listen to sermon.

You can stream or download it by clicking the title link

Quoted On Preaching

"To preach, to really preach, is to die naked a little at a time, and to know each time you do it that you must do it again."

Ministry Magazine

The January/February digital version of Ministry Magazine is now available free. You can access it here.

Digital seems to me to be the way to go – instant access, embedded video clips and features – and it’s green!. No trees died in the process.
